Image retouching

Photography has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a little kid, I loved photographing most of everything. Then I discovered Photoshop and all its capabilities. What a perfect couple they make. Image retouching, whether it's to fix an image or just play around with it and experiment, is one of those things I absolutely LOVE doing. Here are before and after shots. All photographs are mine, except for (of course, #5).

AFTER - I added some contrast to the image. A snowy winter day in the Stockholm Archipielago.

BEFORE - Sunset quickly approaches in the horizon in the Stockholm Archipielago.

AFTER - Adding some contrast, level and saturation makes a big difference in the feel of this picture.

BEFORE - wedding picture of the lovely couple.

AFTER - I removed the glow in the skin, added some make-up to the bride and blurred the background to center all attention on the bride and groom. I also added contrast and smoothed their skins.

BEFORE - La Graciosa, a small island in the Canary Islands, off the island of Lanzarote.

AFTER - Added a high contrast, lowered the hue significantly, gave it some "noise" to give it a gritty look and added a grunge frame.

BEFORE - A picture with my sisters at my youngest sister's gradation (with the Swedish flag around her neck).

AFTER - Removed most of the color, just leaving a slight hue on us. Smoothed the skin, blurred the background and enhanced the make-up just slightly. Had a lot of fun with this one.

BEFORE - Shot of La Graciosa from Lanzarote.

AFTER - Enhanced the contrast, added some color to make it more vibrant.

BEFORE - Baby bird in the park. The ISO was too low and more light than wanted gives the picture very little contrast.

AFTER - I added color and contrast to the picture to make it more vibrant and give it more depth.

BEFORE - A small street, sort of, in The Old City of Stockholm. I loved the shot and wanted to experiment with it. As it is, it's a little flat and lacking contrast.

AFTER - I wanted to make it a night shot. I added lights, made it dark and added shadows and soft light on the floor.

I had so much fun with this picture. The end result reminds me of a scene out of a Dickens' book.

BEFORE - This shot is actually a landscape, and it's a lot longer than this. I took a set of photos and, in Photoshop, created a landscape image. However, only part of it fits here. Check out my Flickr account to see all this images in their entirety.

AFTER - I added color and contrast to give it depth and clarity. As it was, it was too flat and it wasn't well defined.

BEFORE - I actually like this shot taken in the dusk, although it was pretty dark already. I love the lights on the bridge and how the red is so bright and vibrant. However, I wanted to play around with it and change it.

AFTER - From dusk 'til dawn. It now looks like a shot taken during the first hours of the morning.

BEFORE - An evening shot in a placid lake in Sweden.

AFTER - Again, the shot was lacking depth and contrast, so I added some color to give it that sunset feel and make it more vibrant.

BEFORE - The Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote. This is one of the most beautiful national parks one can see. Such beautiful volcanoes and lava covered landscape.

AFTER - I had to add color and contrast to make the actual landscape justice. I also removed reflections on the glass (the picture was taken inside a bus). Again, this is a landscape shot and it has a lot more to offer. Check out  my Flickr account to see the whole image.
